The 34th BOG meeting of SSRI was held on “10 April 2014” at 11:30 am in the board room of SSRI, Jhang.

 
 
 


Botanical gardens were established under semi-arid conditions on latitude 31.15 oN and longitude 72.22 oE in Jhang.  This is the first garden of its kind set up in the sugar industry and the project is aimed at developing conservation and research facilities for scholars. The gardens are home to flora of 381 species mainly trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers, cactus and gymnosperms. Aromatic and medicinal plantation has been done on separate 30,400 sq. ft of land. The status of flora at Shakarganj during 2006-07 is given in the following table:
